Jennifer Westacott, CEO at the Business Council of Australia, has been announced as patron for FairBreak Global.
The 59-year-old is a passionate advocate for equality and opportunities for all, whether it be in business, sport or wider areas of everyday life.
She brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge and will be on hand to give guidance and mentorship to all players on the current FairBreak team as well as those who have historically been part of the organisation.
A tycoon in the business world, Ms Westacott, has been at the helm of the Business Council of Australia since 2011. Having built her career in the public sector, she has experience in a range of areas and a deep understanding of creating equal opportunities for all, regardless of background, gender, belief or origin. Her experience and beliefs therefore align perfectly with those of FairBreak.
“I am honoured to take up the position as patron for FairBreak – empowering women through sport is a fantastic initiative. Cricket has the power to bring families, communities and nations together. Women’s cricket is exciting, interesting and commercially successful in many countries. It is essential that women get paid properly in recognition of the world class athletes that they are” – Jennifer Westacott
Growing up in Springfield, New South Wales, the feminist icon was told her best prospects would be to work in the local shoe shop. Unperturbed by these apparent boundaries, she fought the status quo and has gone on to become one of the most powerful businesswomen in Australia.
Her tenacity and determination is unrivaled and would not go amiss on a cricket pitch. She will be a great role model for players and fans and is going to be an asset to the FairBreak family.
“I cannot be more grateful to Jennifer for her commitment to the role of Patron. It’s such an important role and to have a person who demonstrates immense skill and dedication in all aspects of her life will inspire and motivate us all” - Shaun Martyn, FairBreak Founder
